The dictionary defines GNOMES as magical creatures that dwell in the earth and guard its treasures. Well my fellow gnomes, this year we’re designating the Wednesday evenings in June, July, August, and September to maintain the magic at our Brighton Heights gardens. We’ll hit a different garden each week to weed, water and do necessary maintenance on one of our gardens. We’ll start at 7 PM in June and July and go until dusk or fatigue sets in. No one need feel obligated to be there every Wednesday or even for the full evening on any night but come when you can for as long as you can. A few extra helpers make a tremendous difference.
Here is the schedule so far:
June 6, LEGION PARK Mark Kirby and his merry band have always done a great job of keeping our garden gem polished.
June 13 CALIFORNIA/BENTON Matt Yurkovich heads up our Allegheny Highlands themed garden.
June 20 CALIFORNIA/TERMON 3 The three gardens at the gateway entrance to Brighton Heights.
June 27 LEGION PARK What … you didn’t expect the weeds to take the summer off did you.
July 4 HOLIDAY Have a nice break with friends and family.
July 11 CALIFORNIA/TERMON 3 Remember those friends and family, bring ’em to the CT3
July 18 LEGION PARK If you still have any friends and family left…
July 25 TO BE ANNOUNCED We’ll pick another of our gardens that needs work
August 1 CALIFORNIA/TERMON 3 These 3 always need work but by August, I’ve run out of clever things to say.
August 8 LEGION PARK With the day light starting to shorten we’ll start at 6 PM. Come as soon as you can.
August 15 TO BE ANNOUNCED II
August 22 CALIFORNIA/TERMON 3 Landscaping is a project you complete, gardening is never done.
August 29 LEGION PARK 6 PM start.

Please mark your calendars and show up as often as you can. Bring your favorite hand tool and gloves, if you need them. Larger tools and weed buckets, etc. will be available.
