Brighton Heights

As the name suggests, Brighton Heights is a hilltop community located on Pittsburgh Pennsylvania's Northside. This 718 acre neighborhood offers a great view of the Pittsburgh skyline and the Ohio River as it winds its way west. Residents are close to downtown, yet live adjacent to the suburban communities of Bellevue and Ross Township. Brighten Heights is also adjacent to one of Pittsburgh's four great city parks, the 287-acre Riverview Park, which is known for its hiking and equestrian trails. Riverview's winding one-way paved loop is also a haven for walkers and joggers. Other highlights include summertime concerts and movies, a swimming pool, ball fields, picnic shelters - and a "space age" playground located near the landmark Allegheny Observatory. The Allegheny Observatory at the pinnacle of the park, is a University of Pittsburgh research facility open to the public by appointment.

In architecture as well as population, Brighton Heights blends the best of the new and the old. Large, stately homes stand next to newer ones; old churches are complemented by newer developments such as the New Allegheny town homes on Cobbler Circle. Once a predominately German area, Brighton Heights today has a varied ethnic character. In this tight-knit neighborhood, you'll find generations of families living side-by-side, long-time residents next door to young families. And it is not uncommon to meet people who have lived in the neighborhood all their lives, and are second and third generation residents.

Residents speak proudly about their family-oriented community, where neighbors look after one another, and where they seldom walk down the street without seeing someone they know. Sturdy and solid like its buildings, Brighton Heights is a stable community. Residents are active in the community and take responsibility for maintaining a high quality of life.

In the neighborhood and nearby, there are plenty of shopping choices - local specialty stores and suburban shopping centers. There is easy access to nearby suburbs, and to major regional attractions such as the Carnegie Science Center, the Children's Museum, the Andy Warhol Museum, Mattress Factory, PNC Park, and Heinz Field. McKnight Road shopping and Ross Park Mall are less than ten minutes away.
